EFA: Emergency First Aid with CPR and AED

The Emergency First Aid certification course is designed to teach participants with little to no first aid background some of the basics of first aid.  The Emergency First Aid certificate is also the level of First Aid training maintained by fitness, health care and child care workers including massage therapists, dental assistants, pharmacists, personal trainers, group fitness instructors, camp leaders and teachers.  In our lower mainland Emergency First Aid courses, participants will learn and practice skills such as how to deal with:

  • Patient assessmentEmergency First Aid Pulse Checks
  • Heart Attack and Angina
  • Stroke and TIA
  • Major Bleeding
  • Shock
  • Minor Tissue Injuries and Burns
  • Respiratory Emergencies: asthma, aspiration, hyperventilation and anaphylaxis including practice with the Twinject and Epipen

Emergency First Aid training always includes CPR and AED training.  Usually EFA includes CPR-A (CPR for Adults only) but the CPR certification can easily be upgraded to CPR-C (Adults, Children and Infants) which is usually the level that we offer with our courses.

Emergency First Aid is equivalent to Fitness First Aid and is accepted by the BCRPA and other fitness or personal training organizations.  This level of training also meets the qualification requirements for medication management (injections) for the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia .  With the CPR-C upgrade this course is great for camp leaders and for most Child Development educational programs but we also now have Emergency First Aid Childcare courses available if you are looking for something with a little more child specific content.

Full Course Cost: $85, Length: 8 hours
Recertification Cost: $75, Length: 6-8 hours
Course times are approximate but we do what we can to work efficiently through the material.  Payment is non-refundable so that we can plan for instructors, equipment and space for your class.

Recertification of Emergency First Aid certification is obtained by completing the course again. Recertification and full course options are usually quite similar however we will do our best to work more efficiently with re-cert students when possible. Our Emergency First Aid certifications are valid for 3 years;  however, some professional standards require more frequent recertification. CPR recertification can be done separately from EFA and is recommended annually by the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
