Description
The Emergency Childcare First Aid course is focused on first aid required for child patients and covers all the Emergency First Aid topics and more. A Red Cross certificate is provided upon successful completion.
Who should take this Emergency First Aid Childcare class?
Summer camp counsellors, day camp leaders, daycare staff, teachers, parents, and anyone who works with or lives with children should take this certification class. This course meets legislation requirements for early childcare education and and daycare worker safety requirements in British Columbia.
What will I learn?
Participants will learn and practice skills such as how to deal with:
-Patient assessment
-Heart Attack and Angina
-Stroke and TIA
-Major Bleeding
-Shock
-Respiratory Emergencies: asthma, aspiration, hyperventilation and anaphylaxis, including practice with the Epipen
-Minor Tissue Injuries and Burns
-Bone and Joint Injuries
-Diabetic Emergencies and Seizures
-Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke
-Hypothermia and Frostbite
-Includes CPR and AED training
